What is the proprietary CuZn synergy in Eezi Pools formulation?
Zinc sulfate enhances the efficacy of copper in killing algae in pool water while mitigating the staining risks associated with using copper-based products. This is how this CuZn synergy works:
Copper as an Algaecide:
- Copper is an effective algaecide when used appropriately. It damages the cell walls of algae, making it difficult for them to grow and reproduce. Copper-based algaecides are particularly useful in controlling and preventing the growth of various types of algae, including green, black, and mustard algae.
The Role of Zinc Sulfate:
- Zinc sulfate is sometimes used alongside copper to enhance its algaecidal properties. When zinc sulfate is added to the pool water, it interacts with the copper ions. Together, they create a more potent algaecidal effect.
How It Works:
- Zinc sulfate helps stabilize the copper ions in the water. It prevents the copper from precipitating out of solution and forming stains on pool surfaces. By maintaining copper in a soluble form, the combination of copper and zinc sulfate continues to inhibit algae growth effectively.
In summary, the synergy between copper and zinc sulfate helps keep your pool water clear of algae while minimizing staining risks!
How to Clear a Green Pool in 24 Hours
Follow these dosages and instructions for a 50,000-liter pool. Adjust proportionately for other sizes.
You can simply use 1 x pack of Eezi Pool Green Go as per instructions or follow the Eezi Pool Smart Pool application below.
Step 1: Check pH and adjust it to 7.0. Typically, in a 50,000-liter pool, you will need 2 liters of Eezi Pool acid to achieve this.
Step 2: With the filter running, pour 1 x pack of Eezi Pool Smart Pool Booster into the pool weir (skimmer box).
Step 3: Pour 1 kg of Eezi chlorine directly into the pool weir.
Step 4: Run the filter for 24 hours without bathing, brushing, or vacuuming during this clearing period.
Step 5: Once the pool is clear, vacuum the resultant waste from the pool floor prior to swimming or brushing.
By following these steps, you’ll have a clear and inviting pool in no time!
Important: If the pool has been green for longer than 3 weeks, you may need to repeat this procedure. If using calcium hypochlorite chlorine, it is important to deliver it to the pool via the pool weir only. Never broadcast it directly into the pool, as staining can occur. Although easily remedied, it is best avoided.
The Basics
Pool Care Basics
A swimming pool, akin to a living body of water, requires careful balance, chemical maintenance, and filtration to prevent it from turning stagnant, typically occurring within 14 days. Stagnant water exhibits a green, cloudy appearance and may emit an unpleasant odor, creating an ideal environment for dangerous bacteria to thrive. These bacteria pose a significant risk, leading to skin, nose, and eye irritations.
To ensure a healthy and enjoyable swimming experience, it’s crucial to maintain your pool within specific parameters at all times:
- Free Chlorine: 0.5ppm – 1.0ppm
- Total Alkalinity: 80ppm – 120ppm
- pH: 6.8 – 7.4
By adhering to these guidelines, you can keep your pool water crystal clear and free from harmful bacteria, promoting a safe and refreshing environment for all swimmers.
What you need to know about algae
The primary means through which algae infiltrates your swimming pool is via the wind. Algae spores are omnipresent in the atmosphere, constantly floating around. When conditions are favorable, these spores settle in your pool and, if left unchecked, can rapidly multiply.
Whether it’s black, mustard, or green algae, the presence of algae not only leads to unsightly stains but also serves as a source of nutrients for bacteria to flourish. The synergy between algae and bacteria often results in the discoloration of water, typically taking on a green hue.
What you need to know about extreme weather
Extreme weather conditions, such as lightning, rain, and prolonged heat spells, can disrupt the water balance of your pool, diminishing the effectiveness of various pool chemicals typically causing clarity issues. In addition rainfall will bring with it additional pollutants caught in the atmosphere which will place an increased demand on your chlorine. It is essential to monitor and correct the pool’s pH and free chlorine levels after extreme weather to ensure optimal chemical efficacy and maintain a healthy swimming environment.
What you need to know about filtration
Effective filtration is essential for removing both organic and non-organic matter from your pool. If left unattended, these contaminants can lead to increased chemical demands and create an unsightly pool. Furthermore, the filtration system plays a crucial role in distributing chemicals throughout the pool.
During the summer months, it is advisable to run the pool for up to 8 hours, while in winter, a minimum of 4 hours is recommended. This ensures optimal filtration and chemical distribution, contributing to a cleaner and more enjoyable swimming environment.
That said, Eezi Pool has proven to maintain clarity in countries with inconsistent power supplies. In some cases, we have proven Eezi Pool can maintain your pool with only 50% of the usual required filtration times!

How to test for chlorine, pH, Alkalinity and Cyanuric Acid
Your basic water testing strips will measure these values for you.
How often should I change the sand in my pool filter?
It is advisable to replace the sand in your pool filter every two years to ensure optimal performance. Several indicators suggest that it’s time for a sand change:
- Difficulty in maintaining pool water clarity.
- Murkiness in the pool water.
- A noticeable increase in pressure within the filter system.
- A distinct smell in the pool water and filter system.
- Presence of filter sand in the pool, noticeable on the pool floor.
Regularly monitoring these factors and proactively changing the filter sand will contribute to a more effective and efficient pool filtration system.
What is the importance of Total Alkalinity?
Total Alkalinity is the measure of dissolved carbonates in the water. The carbonates are responsible for the pH buffering of the water to avoid rapidly changing pH levels in your pool between acidic and basic. This is known as pH bounce.
Total alkalinity should be maintained between 80ppm and 120ppm for the best protection against pH bounce.
Why does my pool water discolor mid-cycle?
This could be due to extreme weather conditions i.e. lightning, rainy days, high bather load, extreme heat etc.
Your pool parameters could be out of balance, re-check your Free chlorine, pH and Total alkalinity levels and adjust where required. Always maintain:
– pH at between 6.8 to 7.4
– Total alkalinity 80 to 120 ppm
– Free chlorine 0.5 to 1 ppm
– Copper below 1 ppm
– CYA between 30 to 50 ppm.
Filter Sand or Cartridge Discolouration
You may experience filter sand or Cartridge discolouration when using Eezi Pool products , this is perfectly normal and in no way impedes the life or efficiency of your filter type.
PH Levels
What causes the pH to rise and fall?
The below factors will affect the pH balance:
● Topping up (municipal water)
● Bather waste
● Sunscreen lotion and oils
● Rain
● Chemical evaporation
How do I adjust my pools pH?
